Dear Family and Friends:

 

Plans are underway for the biannual “One Heck of a Reunion” celebration on August 30th, 2008, and we hope you and your family will plan on attending. Why so late in the summer you might ask? Well, summer can be a busy time for everyone. There’s memorial weekend, baseball games, vacations, etc… and we know that schedules can be a little tight so we’re hoping to avoid all of that and make the reunion date a little more convenient for everyone to attend. At our 2006 reunion we boasted an attendance of over 100 family members and we’re hoping to beat that number at this year’s gathering.

 

 

 

NEW
In addition to the date change, we’re also doing a few other new things for this year’s reunion. As we are well into the age of technology we’re giving the Heck reunion an upgrade with the launch of our new website www.heckreunion.com.

 

This website will serve as a new way for our family to communicate, learn about our family history, view photos, and also to read up on Heck family news. It will also serve as a way for you to RSVP for future reunions to let us know you’re coming.

 

We will have more details on ways to use the website in our next letter.

 

LOCATION
As is tradition, we will be gathering at the Legion Hall in Homer, NE.

 

 

SCHEDULE

FRIDAY – AUGUST 29 Early arrivals may wish to make plans with the family golfers for Friday morning and afternoon. There will also be a golf tournament on Saturday morning (see below). SATURDAY – AUGUST 30 9:00 am - Golf Tournament If you want to know more about the event and are interested in participating, please visit the website or contact Dave Heck at 888-844-1356 (work) or 698-2530 (home). He hopes to have the greatest turnout ever, so come join the fun.   3:00 to 4:00 p.m. – Social hour and sign-in   4:00 to 4:30 p.m. - Grandma Heck’s Pie tasting contest Ladies or Men, bring your favorite pie like Grandma used to bake or one of your own creations. We’ll pick 3 volunteers from the crowd to judge the pies. The winner of the best tasting pie gets a set of 4 collectible Heck mugs.   5:00 to 6:00 p.m. - Potluck Dinner Meal The committee will purchase chicken and ask for a free-will donation to cover the food expenses and the hall rental.   6:00 to 7:00 p.m. - Introductions/Memorials and Business Meeting After everyone is introduced, we will recognize members who live in a better place now. Then we will have a short business meeting.   7:00 to 8:00 p.m. - Old Fashioned Talent Show (like Grandma always insisted on) Please talk to your talented family members to start practicing for the Really Big Show.   8:00 to ? - Socializing and Games
